The Certified Root Cause Analyst Programme is designed to equip professionals with the essential skills of structured problem-solving. Conducted by MSME – TDC, Chennai, and facilitated by Dr. Gopal Sivakumar, Founder & CEO of Vision Excellence, this online training blends practical insights with globally recognized problem-solving frameworks. The course runs for 5 days, with each interactive session lasting 1.5 hours, totalling 7.5 hours of focused learning.

Delivered live in an engaging online format, the programme ensures clarity through real-life case exercises, group interaction, and practical application. With an affordable course fee of ₹2,950 (inclusive of GST), classes are scheduled on weekdays (Monday to Friday, 8:30 pm – 10:00 pm) to suit working professionals. Over the span of five days, participants will progress through a complete problem-solving journey. The course begins with a comprehensive understanding of what defines a problem, distinguishing symptoms from root issues, and exploring the cost of poor quality (COPQ) and its business implications. Participants are introduced to structured problem-solving methodologies including DMAIC, QC Story, 8D, and A3, and will practice defining problems using charters and SIPOC analysis.

Moving forward, the programme explores current situation analysis and measurement, teaching participants to collect data systematically, design operational definitions, and establish baselines using tools such as check sheets, Pareto analysis, and stratification. Real-life measurement exercises form an integral part of this stage to build hands-on confidence.

Root Cause Analysis forms the core of Day 3, where participants learn structured frameworks to uncover hidden causes of recurring problems. By applying brainstorming techniques, Fishbone diagrams, 5 Whys, and data-driven approaches, learners build the ability to identify and validate true root causes instead of addressing superficial symptoms.

On Day 4, the emphasis shifts to solution development and evaluation. Participants are trained to generate effective countermeasures, prioritize solutions using matrices such as Ease-Impact and Pugh, and validate them through pilot testing. A special session provides a comparative perspective on DMAIC, QC Story, 8D, and A3 frameworks, enriched with real-world lessons from the automotive and manufacturing industries.

The final day focuses on implementation and sustenance, covering action planning, mistake-proofing techniques (Poka-Yoke), and strategies for monitoring and standardizing improvements. A comprehensive case study ties together the learnings, followed by a final review, Q&A session, and certification instructions.
