ToggleFaculty Development Program (Online)
05 – 09 January 2026
Organized by Association of Indian Universities – Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth Deemed to be University, Academic and Administrative Development Centre (AIU–SBVDU AADC), Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth, Puducherry.
In a world where Artificial Intelligence (AI) is rapidly reshaping how we learn, work and innovate,
Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth (SBV) has taken a proactive step by launching a
five-day online Faculty Development Program (FDP)
on “Harnessing AI for Academic Excellence and Research Innovation.”
Designed specifically for faculty members, academic professionals and researchers,
this program aims to help higher education institutions move beyond curiosity about AI and start using it
meaningfully, ethically and effectively in teaching and research.
AI is no longer a futuristic idea for academia – it is a powerful enabler of
better learning experiences, higher research productivity and stronger institutional outcomes.
Institutions that understand how to adopt AI responsibly will be better positioned to lead in academic excellence
and global research competitiveness.
Why This Faculty Development Program Matters
By the end of the FDP, participants will:
- Examine the role of AI in advancing teaching and learning.
- Learn how to enhance research capacity and productivity using AI tools.
- Build practical digital and AI literacy for academic work.
- Explore innovation and interdisciplinary collaboration powered by AI.
- Understand ethical, transparent and responsible AI practices in academia.
- Evaluate the impact of AI adoption on academic excellence.
- Discover how AI can accelerate pharmacy and healthcare-related research.

A Five-Day Journey Through AI in Education and Research
The FDP is thoughtfully structured across five days, bringing together experts from prestigious institutions,
industry and research organizations. Each day focuses on a different dimension of AI in academia – from teaching
and assessment to healthcare, pharma, data analysis and research translation.
Day 1 (05 January 2026) introduces participants to the
foundations of AI in education – how AI can support teaching, personalize learning, assist students and automate
grading and assessment. Sessions led by experienced academicians set the tone for how AI can practically support
everyday academic responsibilities.
Day 2 (06 January 2026) shifts the focus to
AI in healthcare and pharma, including generative AI in healthcare, AI Doctor BOT
concepts and the role of AI in the Fourth Industrial Revolution, particularly in pharmaceutical and healthcare
innovation.
Day 3 (07 January 2026) is dedicated to AI for academic
research – from data analysis and Natural Language Processing (NLP) for research to intelligent tools that support
deeper inquiry and more efficient literature handling.
Spotlight Session: AI for Hypothesis Testing and Model Evaluation
A key highlight of Day 3 is the session on
“AI for Hypothesis Testing and Model Evaluation” by
Dr. Gopal Sivakumar, Ph.D,
Professor – Operational Excellence, Consultant, Researcher and CEO, Vision Excellence Private Limited, Chennai.
Dr. Gopal brings a unique blend of industrial excellence and academic experience, guiding participants on how AI
can support research design, statistical thinking, hypothesis validation and model evaluation. His session is
especially valuable for faculty and research scholars who want to move from traditional, manual approaches to
data-driven, AI-assisted research workflows without compromising on
academic rigor or ethics.
Day 4 (08 January 2026) explores themes such as
AI-powered plagiarism detection, academic integrity and translational AI – turning research into real-world
solutions. Participants are also introduced to cutting-edge intersections between physics and machine intelligence,
offering a glimpse into next-generation AI and ML applications.
Day 5 (09 January 2026) looks ahead to the
future of education and research in an AI-driven world. Discussions cover the
role of AI in shaping tomorrow’s classrooms, tools and trends in pharma R&D and how AI can serve as a
“new toolkit” for researchers – especially in data science and literature review.
Who Will Benefit from This FDP?
This program is ideal for:
- Faculty members across disciplines who want to practically use AI in teaching and assessment.
- Researchers and Ph.D. scholars looking to enhance data analysis, literature review and model building using AI.
- Academic administrators interested in driving institutional excellence using AI responsibly.
- Professionals from pharmacy, healthcare and allied domains exploring AI-enabled research and innovation.
Towards an AI-Enriched Academic Future
As AI continues to influence every aspect of society, higher education cannot remain a spectator.
Programs like this FDP by AIU–SBVDU AADC and Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth ensure that faculty and researchers are
not just aware of AI, but confident in applying it thoughtfully in their classrooms,
laboratories and institutions.
With a strong lineup of resource persons and the valuable contribution of experts like
Dr. Gopal Sivakumar,
this FDP promises to be a meaningful step towards building AI-ready universities and research ecosystems.
